NJ Clean Energy Act's Energy and Water Benchmarking Law:
- Deadline:
- Owners/operators of commercial buildings >25,000 sq ft must comply with NJ Clean Energy Act by October 2023.
- Requirement:
- Track and report energy and water usage using the EPA's ENERGY STAR® Portfolio Manager tool.
- Notification:
- Commercial building owners/operators should have received a letter from the NJ Board of Public Utilities (BPU) detailing the requirements.
- Purpose:
- The law helps measure, analyze, and compare your facility’s energy and water consumption to similar buildings to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Legislative History:
